How does it work?

We offer a selection of hair extension methods at Elite, each suitable to different circumstances; the density and colour of your hair, your scalp, skin secretion, lifestyle, budget and the result you would like to accomplish.

It is always a good idea to do your homework before getting hair extensions!
Every method could damage your natural hair if it is not executed properly. When attachment and removal is done by an experienced, certified extensionist this risk is greatly reduced.
Hair extensions have become very popular over the past few years, leading to many stylists developing their own methods and brands. New techniques are still being developed all the time. But this can get confusing! What works well for one person isn't necessarily the right solution for another. That's why it is so important to research all of the available methods and get your hair extensions done by an experienced, certified extensionist.

Hair extension lengths

The image will give you an idea of hair extension lengths. If you would like to keep your hair looking natural, the general rule is to go two thirds longer than your own hair length.

How much do hair extensions cost?

The price for hair extensions depend on several factors. In most cases, the hair's quality and amount is the biggest determinant.
The most expensive option is called Remy hair. This is very carefully collected human hair with all the cuticles in the same direction. It is never chemically treated, except only to colour the hair using the slowest lightening process so that the quality remains intact.
Cheaper hair choices are chemically treated and stripped of the cuticles, before it is coated with silicone resulting in poor quality hair. Once these extensions have been washed a few times the silicone coating will wear down, which leaves dry, matted hair which will look and feel synthetic.
At the Elite Hair Replacement Clinic we only use the finest luxury Remy hair where all the cuticles are intact.
Our hair extension specialist will advise you on what hair will be best suited to your natural texture and density, allowing the extensions to beautifully blend into your own hair.
Another important factor which influences price is the technique used for attachment. The more time consuming the process the more it will cost. Attaching a weft or tape-ins will take much less time than adding hair extensions strand by strand, therefore it will be less expensive.

How long will my hair extensions last?

Some hair extension methods last longer than others, but in general we can say that they last anywhere between six weeks and four months before needing maintenance.
This can sometimes be because the attachment breaks, but most of the time it is due to the extensions getting loose as your natural hair grows. An average rate of growth is 0.4'' per month. When they get too loose they have to be removed or tightened.
Good maintenance is very important, and failure to do so could result in damage to your natural hair. When your own hair grows too long it can matt and begin to dread, which can be difficult to tease out and there is a risk of snappage.
With some methods it is possible to reuse the hair, which can save you money if you are on a budget but this depends on the hair's quality and your maintenance.
